Happy Days...

18/8/2018

Happy days!

Thanks to Vet Nursing students Deva and Sharon for transporting these two Black Swans to Whitby Lakes, where they were released.

A beautiful and picturesque afternoon for this adventure.

We are so happy to see them free again!

This is what we work for, and it makes it all worthwhile.

Swans Galore! Please Help.

15/8/2018

We currently have 6 beautiful Black Swans at the facility, all requiring much care and attention daily.

Generally we have 1 or 2 at a time so 6 is pretty crazy!
Picture
On estimate, Swans require over double the amount of resources compared to a mallard duck. Housing all 6 at once is causing a fast reduction in food as well as medication meaning orders are more frequent and overall, the cost is much higher so........
WE WANT YOUR HELP!

If you would like to make a donation towards the ongoing care of these swans, please click on this link to our Give A Little Page to make a tax-deductible donation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, not only by the team at WBRT but also the Swans! Thanks in advance!

We've lost a friend.

WBRT is deeply saddened by the loss of a very special Paradise Duck, Tara.

Words cannot express how important she was to so many people.
A special soul who was loved immensely.

Tara had been with us for over 4 years. She became a long term resident after she was shot in the wing which resulted in an amputation. Tara also had no voice which made her the quietest paradise duck we have ever met!!!

While we are truly devastated by the loss of Tara, we cherish the moments and many stories we have of her.
We will continue to tell her story and she will be remembered forever.

Rest in Peace Tara ❤️💖

Tara made herself known to all visitors that came to the facility by famously lying down for pats, or (if you were on the wrong side of her) chasing your feet!

She always had a "favourite" person who she followed around daily (generally the interns from overseas!) and without fail, was there to greet you in the morning and see you off at night.

One legged duck friends!!!
These two go everywhere together and it really is the sweetest thing! ❤️

On the topic of missing limbs...we are still fundraising for a 3D printer and are also in conversation with a university in regards to getting some skilled help with the creation of prosthetic limbs for ducks!
